2023 Nicolas Barbou Utopie Créative 1.5L

Utopie Creative is Nicolas Barbou’s first solo release, sourced from a tiny 1.5-hectare parcel of Sauvignon Blanc planted in 1975 on quartz and sand soils over a clay base in Oisly. Barbou, from a Touraine winemaking family and mentored by Jean-Yves Bizot, whole-bunch presses the fruit and ages it 20 months in used barrel.

Expect a rich, layered Sauvignon Blanc with real complexity from the old vines and extended aging, bottled in magnum for even more graceful development. It is a standout release from one of the Loire’s most promising new names.
