Domaine Michel Lafarge, a benchmark biodynamic estate in Volnay, makes this Bourgogne Aligote from Aligote Dore vines planted in 1937, among the oldest of their kind in Burgundy. Grown on deep clay-limestone soil and certified organic and biodynamic, the wine is fermented with ambient yeast and aged 15-18 months in used barrels.

Powerful and concentrated for an Aligote, it shows citrus and quince character with high acidity, mineral tension and a notably persistent finish. It is a serious, structured expression of a grape too often treated as an afterthought.
