Les Taillepieds sits at the top of the Volnay hill, where Domaine Marquis d’Angerville farms a 1.07-hectare plot on poor, whitish, rocky soil so sharp-edged that winegrowers historically wore through their shoes cultivating it, giving the climat its name. Guillaume d’Angerville, sixth generation to run the estate, also holds the monopole Clos des Ducs.

The steep slope, thin soil and full solar exposure give Taillepieds an added finesse and elegance within the Volnay Premier Cru lineup. Aged in around 25% new oak after gentle, punch-down-free vinification, it is one of the most refined and sought-after wines in the d’Angerville range.
