2014 Domaine Sylvie Esmonin Clos Saint-Jacques: Premier Cru Grandeur Jeroboam
The 2014 Domaine Sylvie Esmonin Clos Saint-Jacques Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru Rouge 3L Double Magnum (Jeroboam) is a commanding collector jewel of the Côte de Nuits. In particular, Clos Saint-Jacques is universally considered an uncrowned Grand Cru due to its steep, white marl limestone slope. In addition, the classic, cooler 2014 vintage produced fruit of tremendous aromatic clarity, fine tannins, and energetic mineral drive in this large 3-liter format.
Tasting Notes for 2014 Sylvie Esmonin Clos Saint-Jacques
The wine opens with expressive aromas of dark cherry, wild raspberry, dried rose petals, dark cocoa, and forest floor. Furthermore, complex accents of black tea, licorice root, and crushed gravel emerge with decanting. On the palate, muscular, fine-grained tannins frame a dense core of savory dark berry fruit. Consequently, the finish lingers with extraordinary length, stony tension, and aristocratic poise.

Estate History and Heritage
Domaine Sylvie Esmonin represents generations of passionate winemaking history in Gevrey-Chambertin. Specifically, Sylvie took over the estate from her father Michel in 1989 after studying agronomy and oenology. Moreover, she introduced biodynamic principles, whole-cluster fermentation, and dense old-vine selections across her holdings.
Today, Sylvie’s Clos Saint-Jacques is recognized as one of the most intense and authentic expressions in Gevrey. As a result, this 3-liter Jeroboam stands as a monumental centerpiece for serious Burgundy cellars.
