Description

2009 Château Haut-Marbuzet: Solar Saint-Estèphe Double Magnum

The 2009 Château Haut-Marbuzet Saint-Estèphe Rouge 3L Double Magnum (Jeroboam) is a voluptuous, mature Left Bank triumph. In particular, the estate’s gravel and clay soils over limestone provide optimal conditions for Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. In addition, the solar and celebrated 2009 vintage delivered immense fruit sweetness, supple tannins, and wonderful drinking harmony in large format.

Tasting Notes for 2009 Château Haut-Marbuzet

The wine opens with opulent aromas of ripe blackcurrant, dark plum, cigar box, cedarwood, and dried violets. Furthermore, complex secondary notes of dark chocolate, leather, and roasted spices unfold in the decanter. On the palate, plush, seamless tannins cushion a powerful and savory core of dark fruit. Consequently, the finish lingers with extraordinary length, warming spice, and noble Saint-Estèphe poise.

Estate History and Heritage

Château Haut-Marbuzet was resurrected in the 1950s by Hervé Duboscq, who recognized the world-class terroir lying between Montrose and Cos d’Estournel. Specifically, his son Henri Duboscq championed aging in 100% new oak and harvesting fully ripe Merlot to craft Bordeaux with seductive texture. Moreover, the estate is widely considered an uncrowned classified growth.

Today, large-format 2009 bottlings are sought after for celebrations and private cellars. As a result, this 3-liter Jeroboam represents a stunning and generous expression of mature Bordeaux.
