This 2026 release marks the first Macallan whisky influenced by oak casks seasoned with the brand’s own Valdespino sherry since The Macallan acquired the renowned sherry producer. As a result, the whisky represents an important new chapter in the distillery’s long relationship with Jerez and sherry-seasoned oak.

A Two-Stage Sherry Cask Journey

The Macallan Whisky Mastery Team began with a selection of predominantly European oak sherry-seasoned casks. After maturation, the team married the whisky in selected casks from the first 200 oak casks seasoned at The Macallan’s Valdespino bodega.

Therefore, TIME : SPACE Sherry Cask receives two distinct interactions with freshly sherry-seasoned oak. This carefully managed process deepens the whisky’s dried-fruit character while adding chocolate, warming spice, rich toffee, and polished oak.

Aroma

Sherry-soaked raisins, figs, and Medjool dates lead the aroma. Sweet frangipane, cinder toffee, caramelized nuts, and dark chocolate follow, while cinnamon, star anise, and ginger add warming complexity.

Palate

The palate is opulent and layered. Sultanas, dates, dried apricots, and rich ginger cake combine with treacle toffee, bramble jam, and chocolate-covered cherries. Meanwhile, cloves, cinnamon, cocoa nibs, and polished oak provide depth and structure.

Finish

Warming wood spices and espresso develop into a long finish with gentle, refined oak.

The Macallan presents TIME : SPACE Sherry Cask in the collection’s recognizable circular vessel, symbolizing the continuous passage of time. Additionally, the yellow presentation case takes inspiration from Palomino grapes and the golden Andalusian sunlight that helps ripen them in Jerez.
