2014 Louis Roederer Cristal 6L Methuselah
The 2014 Louis Roederer Cristal 6L Methuselah presents one of Champagne’s most celebrated prestige cuvées in an extraordinary large format. Equal to eight standard 750ml bottles, this impressive Methuselah makes a commanding centerpiece for landmark celebrations, luxury entertaining, or a serious Champagne collection.

The 2014 Vintage
The 2014 growing season produced a Cristal with freshness, precision, and concentrated fruit. The Champagne combines ripeness with energetic acidity, while its mineral structure gives the wine clarity and impressive length.
Moreover, the vintage offers both immediate refinement and excellent aging potential. Collectors can enjoy its current harmony or cellar it as the wine continues to gain complexity.
6L Methuselah Large Format
A 6-liter Methuselah holds the equivalent of eight regular Champagne bottles. As a result, it offers dramatic visual impact and generous capacity for weddings, anniversaries, corporate events, and other important celebrations.
Large-format bottles also allow Champagne to mature more gradually because they contain a lower proportion of oxygen relative to the volume of wine. Therefore, collectors often seek Methuselah formats for extended cellar development as well as their scarcity.
Vineyard Origins and Winemaking
Louis Roederer created the 2014 Cristal from 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. The fruit came primarily from prestigious Grand Cru vineyards in Verzenay, Verzy, Beaumont-sur-Vesle, Aÿ, Avize, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, and Cramant.
The house vinified 32% of the wine in oak and prevented malolactic fermentation to preserve freshness and tension. Finally, a dosage of 7 grams per liter brought balance without masking the wine’s naturally precise character.
Tasting Profile
Appearance: Bright, luminous gold with a steady stream of exceptionally fine bubbles.
Aroma: Concentrated citrus, ripe yellow fruit, lightly roasted almonds, delicate pastry, and subtle chalky notes emerge from the glass.
Palate: Silky and energetic, the palate layers citrus, stone fruit, toasted almond, and refined mineral flavors. Meanwhile, vibrant acidity keeps the wine focused and fresh.
Finish: Long, saline, and chalk-driven, with lingering citrus and finely toasted notes.
The History of Cristal
Louis Roederer first created Cristal in 1876 for Tsar Alexander II of Russia. Since then, it has become one of the world’s most recognizable prestige Champagnes. The transparent bottle and flat base remain distinctive elements of its historic presentation.
Critical Recognition
The 2014 Cristal received outstanding critical recognition, including 98 points from Wine Spectator and a place at No. 10 in the publication’s Top 100 Wines of 2022. It also received 97 points from Wine Enthusiast and 96 points from Wine Advocate.
Why Collect This Methuselah?

Serving a 6L Methuselah
Chill the bottle gradually and serve the Champagne at approximately 46–50°F. Because of the bottle’s weight and dimensions, two people should handle and pour it carefully. A purpose-built large-format cradle can also provide greater control during service.
Food Pairing
Pair the 2014 Cristal with oysters, caviar, lobster, scallops, Dover sole, roast chicken, or aged Comté. Its freshness also complements refined Japanese cuisine and lightly seasoned seafood dishes.
