Description

The Jacques Selosse Collection Lieux-Dits Champagne 6x750ml stands as an immortal benchmark of grower Champagne supremacy, radical biodynamic discipline, and mythical single-terroir mastery. Furthermore, Anselme and Guillaume Selosse are globally celebrated as revolutionary visionaries who fundamentally transformed modern Champagne through parcel-specific solera-style vinification. Presented in an exclusive six-bottle collection case, this rare release unites the six legendary lieu-dit bottlings: Les Carelles, La Côte Faron, Sous le Mont, Le Bout du Clos, Chemin de Châlons, and Les Chantereines. Today, this fiercely allocated collection represents one of the most coveted treasures in the world of fine wine.

Additionally, each distinct cuvée captures the raw geological voice of a specific village and slope across the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims. Selosse vinifies and ages his base wines entirely in wooden barrels, utilizing ambient yeasts and extended lees contact. Consequently, this collection delivers an exhilarating sensory journey marked by oxidative complexity, pulverized limestone minerality, and crystalline salinity.

Terroir & Viticulture

This historic collection encompasses six singular lieu-dit climats situated across six distinct Champagne villages: Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Aÿ, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Ambonnay, Cramant, and Avize. However, what elevates these sites into legend is their extraordinary soil diversity: from the razor-thin topsoils over Campanian chalk in the Côte des Blancs to the rich clay-limestone slopes of the Montagne de Reims. The vines occupy steep hillside parcels that capture intense sunlight while providing superb natural drainage.

Specifically, the deep root systems of these massale-selection vines penetrate deep into bedrock fissures to absorb vital mineral nutrients. Anselme and Guillaume manage every vine with strict biodynamic and permaculture principles, allowing wild flora to flourish between rows. The fruit is harvested late at complete physiological maturity with exceptionally high natural potential alcohol. Therefore, the hand-picked fruit achieves phenomenal dry extract, electric natural acidity, and unmatched aromatic concentration.

Vinification & Craftsmanship

The cellar methodology at Jacques Selosse represents an uncompromising pursuit of purity, texture, and site transparency. Grapes were harvested entirely by hand into small crates, followed by gentle, fractionated pressing in a traditional press. Fermentation occurred spontaneously with native yeasts inside seasoned French oak barriques and demi-muids, with a small percentage of new wood.

Crucially, each lieu-dit is aged using a continuous solera-like perpetual reserve system, blending multiple vintages to build astonishing multidimensional depth. Secondary fermentation in bottle was followed by five to six years of undisturbed resting on lees in deep cellars. In addition, disgorgement occurred with zero or minimal dosage, allowing the pure chalky mineral energy of the terroir to shine without masking. Furthermore, minimal sulfur additions ensure that the wine’s vibrant, living texture remains completely unmasked.

Tasting Notes

In the glass, the collection displays radiant golden-amber hues with an ultra-fine, persistent mousse. The bouquets immediately erupt with roasted hazelnuts, dried apricot, lemon curd, and freshly baked brioche. In addition, complex layers of struck flint reduction, crushed chalk, ginger, beeswax, and savory curry spices emerge with air.

On the palate, the wines deliver extraordinary dry extract, chiseled precision, and electric velocity. Driving cores of citrus oils and orchard fruit are backed by an intense spine of saline limestone acidity. Meanwhile, an expansive, creamy texture coats every corner of the mouth without a trace of heaviness. Consequently, each wine in this collection finishes with monumental length, echoing mouthwatering salinity, roasted nuts, and lingering smoky mineral persistence.

Service & Cellar Potential

Serve these monumental Champagnes between 11°C–13°C (52°F–55°F) in large universal white wine or Burgundy stemware. Specifically, avoid narrow flutes, as these profound wines demand air and volume to release their complex tertiary aromatics. Decanting each bottle for 20 to 30 minutes prior to service allows the tightly coiled reduction to blossom.

Pair these cuvées with pan-seared sea scallops, roasted turbot in brown butter, white truffles, or roasted poultry with chanterelles. Furthermore, aged artisanal cheeses like 36-month Comté or Beaufort provide a sublime culinary match. As a result, collectors can enjoy these vibrant bottlings today or cellar them securely through 2045+.
