2023 Nicolas Renaud Une Ile 750ml

Nicolas Renaud, a former history teacher who became a winemaker in 2007 after training at Domaine de la Vieille Julienne, farms 14 hectares in Rochefort-du-Gard under his Clos des Grillons label. Une Ile is a 100% Mourvedre cuvee from old vines, made without oenological additives or added sulfites, half vinified by direct press and half by nine days of carbonic maceration.

The result is a “blouge,” neither fully red nor white, light and juicy with vivid, expressive aromatics. It is a distinctive, boundary-pushing natural wine from a producer widely considered a rising star of the Southern Rhone.
