La Coulee de Serrant is one of the most storied vineyards in the Loire Valley, a walled parcel first planted by Cistercian monks in the 12th century and granted its own single-vineyard AOC. Nicolas Joly, who took over from his parents in 1977 and converted the estate to biodynamic farming in the early 1980s, has become one of the world’s leading voices for biodynamic viticulture.

Made entirely from Chenin Blanc, the wine is famously intense, textural and long-lived, capable of decades of graceful aging. It is one of the most historically significant and philosophically important white wines produced anywhere in France.
