Claire Naudin, who farms roughly 22 hectares organically between the Cote de Nuits and Cote de Beaune, makes Viola Odorata from five lieux-dits surrounding the village of Corgoloin, with vines ranging from 55 to over 115 years old. The wine is named for a local wildflower.

Made with five days of carbonic maceration, extended pigeage and 14-18 months elevage in barrel without fining or filtering, the wine shows real depth and old-vine character for a Cote de Nuits-Villages. It is a serious, hand-crafted red from one of the region’s most dedicated organic growers.
