2015 Château Cos d’Estournel: Sovereign Saint-Estèphe Majesty
The 2015 Château Cos d’Estournel Saint-Estèphe 750ml represents an immaculate, towering expression of power, exotic spice, and opulent fruit from an acclaimed vintage. In particular, Cos d’Estournel sits on a gravel hill overlooking Lafite Rothschild, benefiting from cool estuary breezes and deep clay subsoils. In addition, the solar, balanced 2015 harvest provided rich phenolic maturity, dense velvety tannins, and extraordinary freshness.
Tasting Notes for 2015 Château Cos d’Estournel
The wine opens with an explosive, hypnotic bouquet of crème de cassis, blackberry liqueur, smoked meat, and black truffle. Furthermore, decadent layers of Havana cigar wrapper, licorice, dark chocolate, and graphite unfurl with incredible power. On the palate, a massive, unctuous core of black fruit floods the mouth, buttressed by towering yet completely seamless tannins. Consequently, the finish echoes for over a minute with profound savory persistence, sweet fruit purity, and sovereign poise.

Estate History and Heritage
Château Cos d’Estournel was founded by Louis Gaspard d’Estournel, the “Maharajah of Saint-Estèphe,” who constructed its iconic oriental pagodas. Specifically, owner Michel Reybier and technical director Aymeric de Gironde introduced 100% gravitational cellar architecture to ensure tender tannin extraction. Moreover, its high proportion of ancient Cabernet vines produces wines of monumental complexity.
Today, the 2015 vintage is hailed as one of the modern summits in Cos d’Estournel’s celebrated history. As a result, this bottle is an indispensable acquisition for serious Left Bank collectors.
