Description

2013 Olivier Leflaive Montrachet: The King of White Burgundy

The 2013 Maison Olivier Leflaive Montrachet Grand Cru Blanc 750ml represents the absolute summit and holy grail of dry Chardonnay in the world. In particular, Le Montrachet sits on perfect mid-slope limestone-clay bedrock between Puligny and Chassagne. In addition, the cool and late 2013 harvest produced fruit of immense mineral tension, vibrant natural acidity, and noble cellar longevity.

Tasting Notes for 2013 Olivier Leflaive Montrachet

The wine opens with aristocratic aromas of green apple, Meyer lemon, white blossom, gunflint, and wet limestone. Furthermore, complex accents of hazelnut cream, wet chalk, and fresh pastry unfold gracefully in the glass. On the palate, a powerful, muscular mineral drive surges through a dense, chiseled mid-palate. Consequently, the finish lingers with extraordinary saline persistence, flinty grip, and profound Grand Cru poise.

Estate History and Heritage

Olivier Leflaive co-directed the legendary Domaine Leflaive before founding his eponymous haute-couture project in 1984. Specifically, Olivier applied the same biodynamic standards and parcel-specific vinification to his family holdings in Puligny-Montrachet. Moreover, his bottling of Montrachet Grand Cru is aged in fine French oak to build textural grandeur.

Today, Montrachet stands universally acknowledged as the greatest white wine on earth. As a result, this 2013 vintage serves as an irreplaceable acquisition for any world-class wine collection.
