Description

2010 Gaja Ca’Marcanda Camarcanda: Bolgheri Royalty Imperial

The 2010 Gaja Ca’Marcanda Camarcanda Bolgheri Rouge 6L Imperial (Methuselah) is an aristocratic Super Tuscan from an all-time classic harvest. In particular, this flagship cuvée highlights the calcareous white soils of the estate known as “terre bianche.” In addition, the celebrated 2010 vintage in Tuscany provided cool, slow-ripening conditions that built crystalline purity and multi-decade ageworthiness in this large 6-liter format.

Tasting Notes for 2010 Gaja Ca’Marcanda Camarcanda

The wine opens with vibrant aromas of blackcurrant, dark cherry, graphite, cedarwood, and dried sage. Furthermore, complex secondary notes of dark chocolate, cigar box, and Mediterranean herbs develop in the glass. On the palate, chiseled, polished tannins wrap around a mineral-rich core of brambly fruit. Consequently, the finish lingers with extraordinary length, balsamic freshness, and refined coastal poise.

Estate History and Heritage

Ca’Marcanda was established in 1996 when Angelo Gaja fulfilled his long ambition to acquire prime vineyards in Bolgheri. Specifically, the name translates to “the house of endless negotiations,” reflecting the arduous pursuit of the land. Moreover, Gaja constructed an eco-friendly underground cellar designed to protect the natural beauty of the Tuscan coast.

Today, the Gaja family crafts wines that blend Piedmontese finesse with coastal Tuscan generosity. As a result, the 2010 Camarcanda Imperial stands as an enduring benchmark of modern Italian viticulture.
