2008 Cantina di Santadi Terre Brune: Iconic Sardinian Carignano Magnum
The 2008 Cantina di Santadi Terre Brune Carignano del Sulcis Superiore Rouge 1.5L is a mature, majestic collector magnum from southwestern Sardinia. In particular, this iconic wine is crafted from pre-phylloxera, ungrafted bush vines planted in sandy coastal soils. In addition, the superb 2008 vintage provided slow, balanced ripening that endowed the wine with tremendous aromatic complexity and longevity.
Tasting Notes for 2008 Cantina di Santadi Terre Brune
The wine opens with mature aromas of dried black cherry, wild blackberry, leather, tobacco leaf, and Mediterranean myrtle. Furthermore, subtle hints of dark chocolate, balsamic herbs, and sweet spices unfold with aeration. On the palate, velvety, resolved tannins wrap around a savory, layered core of dark fruit. Consequently, the finish lingers with profound warmth, iron minerality, and noble Tuscan-influenced poise.

Estate History and Heritage
Cantina di Santadi was founded in 1960 in the rugged Sulcis peninsula of southwestern Sardinia. Specifically, the winery experienced a historic revolution in the 1980s under the legendary consulting enologist Giacomo Tachis, the father of Sassicaia. Moreover, Tachis recognized the world-class potential of ungrafted Carignano aged in fine French oak.
Today, Terre Brune is celebrated worldwide as Sardinia’s most iconic and aristocratic red wine. As a result, this mature 2008 magnum serves as a historic showcase of Mediterranean fine winemaking.
