2005 Domaine de la Mordorée La Plume du Peintre: 100-Point Châteauneuf Icon
The 2005 Domaine de la Mordorée La Plume du Peintre Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 750ml stands as an undisputed, 100-point masterpiece of Southern Rhône power. In particular, this mythic cuvée is crafted entirely from ancient centenary vines rooted in the stony galets roulés of the Crau plateau. In addition, the legendary 2005 harvest across France produced monumental fruit concentration, massive structure, and decades of cellar life.
Tasting Notes for 2005 Mordorée La Plume du Peintre
The wine opens with profound aromas of black cherry liqueur, wild raspberry, kirsch, lavender, and exotic spices. Furthermore, complex accents of dark cocoa, garrigue herbs, and crushed stones reveal themselves with decanting. On the palate, decadent, unctuous tannins cushion a massively concentrated core of red and dark fruit. Consequently, the finish lingers with breathtaking persistence, warming spice, and noble Mediterranean composure.

Estate History and Heritage
Domaine de la Mordorée was founded in 1986 by the visionary vigneron Christophe Delorme in Tavel and Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Specifically, Christophe earned worldwide critical praise for his obsessive organic farming, tiny yields, and uncompromising cellar perfection. Moreover, La Plume du Peintre was crafted only in extraordinary vintages from the oldest parcels.
Today, following Christophe’s untimely passing, this scarce bottling is regarded as a mythic collector jewel. As a result, this 2005 vintage represents a towering monument of modern Rhône winemaking.
