2004 Gaja Ca’Marcanda Camarcanda: Bolgheri Royalty Magnum
The 2004 Gaja Ca’Marcanda Camarcanda Bolgheri Rouge 1.5L Magnum is a collector rarity representing Angelo Gaja’s coastal Tuscan triumph. In particular, this flagship cuvée comes from calcareous clay soils known as “terre bianche” in the heart of Bolgheri. In addition, the all-time great 2004 harvest delivered flawless structural balance, which has evolved magnificently in the magnum format.
Tasting Notes for 2004 Gaja Ca’Marcanda Camarcanda
The wine opens with mature aromas of crème de cassis, dark plum, sweet tobacco, cigar wrapper, and dried sage. Furthermore, complex secondary notes of dark chocolate, leather, and graphite unfold gracefully with aeration. On the palate, fully integrated, velvety tannins support a broad, savory core of mature dark berries. Consequently, the finish lingers with extraordinary length, refreshing acidity, and refined Tuscan composure.

Estate History and Heritage
Ca’Marcanda was founded in 1996 when Piedmontese legend Angelo Gaja expanded his winemaking empire into coastal Bolgheri. Specifically, Gaja spent years acquiring these prime parcels, aiming to combine Piedmontese elegance with Mediterranean ripeness. Moreover, he built a state-of-the-art underground winery integrated seamlessly into the hillside.
Today, Ca’Marcanda is recognized alongside the historic greats of Bolgheri. As a result, this mature 2004 magnum stands as a monumental collector showcase of modern Italian viticulture.
