Description

1994 Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat Vosne-Romanée: Historic Magnum Artifact

The 1994 Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat Vosne-Romanée Rouge 1.5L Magnum is an exceedingly rare, library-aged collector artifact from a legendary Côte de Nuits estate. In particular, the estate’s old-vine parcels in Vosne-Romanée provide exceptional mineral tension and spice complexity. In addition, the large-format magnum has protected this mature Pinot Noir, allowing it to develop tertiary grace over decades.

Tasting Notes for 1994 Hudelot-Noëllat Vosne-Romanée

The wine opens with mature aromas of dried cranberry, tart cherry, rose petals, and exotic spices. Furthermore, delicate notes of leather, damp earth, and sandalwood develop gracefully with aeration. On the palate, fine-grained, resolved tannins support a slender, energetic mid-palate of red fruits. Consequently, the finish lingers with mouthwatering freshness, stony minerality, and classic Côte de Nuits poise.

Estate History and Heritage

Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat was founded in 1962 by Alain Hudelot-Noëllat, uniting prized vineyards in Vosne-Romanée, Chambolle-Musigny, and Vougeot. Specifically, Alain was celebrated for his non-interventionist approach and preservation of ancient massale-selection Pinot Noir vines. Moreover, his grandson Charles van Canneyt assumed leadership in 2008, maintaining the domaine’s ethereal house style.

Today, mature library magnums from the Alain Hudelot era are prized by collectors as irreplaceable treasures. As a result, this 1994 bottling represents an authentic and historic portrait of Vosne-Romanée nobility.
