1987 Verset Noël Cornas: Classical Library Granite Artifact
The 1987 Verset Noël Cornas Rouge 750ml is an exceedingly scarce, library-aged collector artifact from the undisputed patron saint of Cornas. In particular, Noël Verset farmed tiny, ancient parcels of ungrafted Syrah clinging to sheer granite cliffs in Chaillot, Reynard, and Les Mazards. In addition, nearly four decades of careful cellar aging have transformed this wine into a study of mature tertiary complexity.
Tasting Notes for 1987 Verset Noël Cornas
The wine opens with delicate tertiary aromas of dried black cherry, leather, smoked bacon, black olive, and potpourri. Furthermore, delicate accents of sous-bois, dried orange peel, and white pepper reveal themselves with gentle aeration. On the palate, silky, fully resolved tannins carry a savory, slender frame of dried dark fruit. Consequently, the finish lingers with haunting elegance, earthy minerality, and noble poise.

Estate History and Heritage
Noël Verset began making wine in Cornas in the 1930s, farming extreme vertical terraces with a horse and pickaxe for over six decades. Specifically, Noël was celebrated for whole-cluster fermentation in stone vats, foot-treading, and aging in ancient wood demi-muids. Moreover, he sold parcels to masters like Thierry Allemand and Auguste Clape before his retirement.
Today, bottles from Noël Verset are regarded as the holy grail of Northern Rhône Syrah. As a result, this 1987 library release represents an irreplaceable treasure of French fine wine history.
