Inside Rare Collects: A Fine Wine Store in Miami Built for Collectors
Miami has no shortage of places to buy wine.
But finding a particular vintage of Pétrus, an older First Growth Bordeaux, Grand Cru Burgundy, mature Champagne or a bottle from a specific birth year requires something different.
That is the idea behind Rare Collects.
Located at 272 NW 36th Street in Miami, between Wynwood and the Miami Design District, Rare Collects is a fine wine and spirits destination built for both everyday customers and serious collectors. Behind the retail store is a private tasting space designed for curated tastings and special experiences.
You can visit us looking for a bottle for dinner tonight.
You can also contact us because you have spent six months trying to find a particular vintage.
Rare Collects was built to handle both.
The Philosophy
More Than a Traditional Wine Store in Miami
For us, being a fine wine store in Miami is not about simply having expensive bottles on a shelf.
It is about:
And understanding why someone is searching for a particular bottle in the first place.
A collector looking for a 1982 Bordeaux has different priorities from someone looking for a young bottle to cellar. A client searching for a 1976 birth-year wine needs something different from someone building a vertical of Château Mouton Rothschild. Someone looking for Grand Cru Burgundy may already know the exact producer, vineyard and vintage they need.
That is why our wine collection extends beyond current releases. Rare Collects specializes in rare, collectible and back-vintage wines, with particular depth in Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and other major wine regions. Our current wine program also emphasizes bottle inspection, provenance and temperature-controlled storage.
Sourcing
A Wine Collection Built Around Access
One of the most important words in fine wine is access.
Great wines are produced in limited quantities.
Older vintages become increasingly scarce as bottles are opened and disappear into private cellars.
Allocated wines may never reach an ordinary retail shelf.
And when a collector wants an exact combination of producer, vineyard, vintage and bottle format, the search becomes even narrower.
Rare Collects works with established sourcing channels, private cellars and wine networks to locate bottles that may be difficult to find through traditional retail. Our public wine collection includes First Growth Bordeaux, Grand Cru Burgundy, mature vintages and other collector-focused bottles.
That means our website is not necessarily the end of the search.
Sometimes it is the beginning.
If you cannot find the bottle you need online, tell us what you are looking for.
Bordeaux
One of the Foundations of Rare Collects
Bordeaux has become one of the most important parts of the Rare Collects wine collection.
Our focus extends from younger releases to mature bottles and collectible vintages from many of Bordeaux’s best-known estates. Collectors shopping Bordeaux may be searching for names such as:
- Château Lafite Rothschild
- Château Mouton Rothschild
- Château Latour
- Château Margaux
- Château Haut-Brion
- Pétrus
- Château Cheval Blanc
But for serious collectors, the name of the château is only the beginning.
And sometimes the objective is as specific as finding one missing vintage to complete a collection. Our existing Bordeaux and back-vintage collections are built around exactly those types of searches.

Recognized by the Wine-Searcher Retailer Awards
Our emphasis on depth and selection has also received recognition outside Rare Collects. For the 2026/27 Wine-Searcher Retailer Awards, Rare Collects Liquor and Wine received:

The awards were presented to Rare Collects by Wine-Searcher as part of its Retailer Awards program.
The Bordeaux award is especially meaningful to us because building a serious Bordeaux collection takes more than stocking the newest releases. It means maintaining access to different vintages, appellations, bottle sizes and producers so that a customer can search by year, rather than simply by brand.
Rare Collects’ dedicated Gold certificate specifically identifies the store as receiving the 2026/27 Gold award for Bordeaux List in Miami. The French wine program was also recognized with Silver for French List in Miami.
For us, the recognition reinforces what we have been trying to build from the beginning:
a wine collection with real depth for Miami collectors.
Burgundy
For the Collector Who Wants Specificity
If Bordeaux is about château and vintage, Burgundy can become even more specific.
All of them can matter.
Our Burgundy collection includes Premier Cru and Grand Cru wines as well as mature and difficult-to-source bottles. The current Rare Collects Burgundy catalog spans a particularly deep range of producers and vintages.
For an experienced Burgundy buyer, “I want Burgundy” is rarely the entire request. It might instead be:
I am looking for a specific Domaine de la Romanée-Conti vintage.
I need an older white Burgundy.
I am trying to complete a vertical from one producer.
Those are the requests we enjoy working on.

Beyond the Current Release
Champagne can also become a collector category.
There is a significant difference between purchasing a current non-vintage Champagne for tonight and searching for an older vintage from a historic house. Collectors may seek:
- Vintage Champagne
- Prestige cuvées
- Older Dom Pérignon
- Krug
- Large formats
- Discontinued releases
- Bottles connected to a particular year
That is why Champagne sits naturally alongside Bordeaux and Burgundy within the Rare Collects fine-wine program.
The goal is not simply to have Champagne. It is to give our clients choices that become difficult to find elsewhere.

Back-Vintage Wine Changes the Conversation
One of the things that most distinguishes Rare Collects from a traditional wine shop is our focus on back-vintage wine. Back-vintage wine gives a buyer something that cannot be manufactured:
time.
You can purchase a young bottle today and wait twenty years. Or you can search for a properly stored bottle that has already spent those twenty years developing.
That creates opportunities for collectors, but also for people celebrating important moments. A client may be looking for wine from:
- Their birth year
- A wedding year
- The year a company was founded
- The birth of a child
- Another meaningful date
Our existing Miami back-vintage program covers Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, California, Italy and other important wine regions, while also supporting specific vintage and private sourcing requests.

Provenance Matters
With a young bottle, provenance is important.
With a wine that may be 30, 40 or 50 years old, it becomes critical.
Age alone does not make a bottle collectible.
Rare Collects states that bottles in its fine-wine program are inspected for factors including fill level, cork integrity and origin, while wine is stored under controlled conditions.
For collectors, these details are not secondary. They are part of the wine.
Storage & Logistics
Fine Wine in Miami Requires Thinking About Heat
Operating a serious wine business in Miami presents another consideration: temperature.
South Florida heat and fine wine are not friends. That is why storage and logistics need to be treated differently from an ordinary package. Rare Collects’ current wine program emphasizes temperature-controlled storage and thermal protection during shipping.
When temperatures become unsuitable for safe wine transit, protecting the bottle should matter more than getting the box out the door as quickly as possible. For Miami clients, local service can also reduce unnecessary transit.
Private Sourcing
Private Wine Sourcing in Miami
Not every important bottle can be displayed on a website. Sometimes a client contacts us with one sentence:
“Can you find this?”
That may involve:
- An older Pétrus
- A rare Burgundy
- A birth-year Bordeaux
- A particular vintage of Champagne
- A magnum
- A full case
- A vertical
- A bottle that has not appeared at retail in years
Rare Collects provides private-client sourcing for specialized requests in addition to its online inventory and physical Miami store. The more specific the request, the more useful the conversation becomes.
Then we can start looking.
The Experience
Private Tastings and the Rare Collects Experience
Wine is ultimately meant to be experienced.
Behind the main retail space at Rare Collects is a private tasting room designed for curated tastings and more personalized wine and spirits experiences. This gives us the opportunity to do more than sell a bottle. A tasting can explore:
- Different vintages of the same château
- Left Bank versus Right Bank Bordeaux
- Young wine versus mature wine
- Different Burgundy producers
- Champagne across different years
- A completely personalized lineup
For someone beginning to collect wine, tasting side by side can often teach more than reading dozens of tasting notes. For an experienced collector, it creates an opportunity to open bottles that are more meaningful when shared.
Rare Collects
A Fine Wine Store for Miami Collectors
Rare Collects was not built around one type of customer.
You do not need to know every Bordeaux appellation before walking through the door.
You do not need a cellar containing hundreds of bottles.
You may simply want a great bottle for dinner.
But if you are a collector who knows exactly what you want, we want to be able to have that conversation too.
That is the balance.
Everyday accessibility with collector-level sourcing.
A physical wine store in Miami with a collection that extends into historic vintages, important producers and rare allocations.
A place where you can buy something for tonight or begin searching for something you have wanted for years.
