Description

2007 Domaine du Pégau Da Capo: 100-Point Châteauneuf Monument Magnum

The 2007 Domaine du Pégau Cuvée da Capo Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 1.5L Magnum stands as an undisputed, 100-point masterpiece of Southern Rhône power. In particular, this mythic cuvée is crafted entirely from ancient centenary vines rooted in the stony galets roulés of the Crau plateau. In addition, the solar and legendary 2007 vintage produced immense fruit concentration, velvet-wrapped tannins, and historic cellar stamina in large format.

Tasting Notes for 2007 Pégau Da Capo

The wine opens with profound aromas of black cherry liqueur, wild raspberry, kirsch, lavender, and exotic spices. Furthermore, complex accents of dark cocoa, garrigue herbs, and crushed stones reveal themselves with decanting. On the palate, decadent, unctuous tannins cushion a massively concentrated core of red and dark fruit. Consequently, the finish lingers with breathtaking persistence, warming spice, and noble Mediterranean composure.

Estate History and Heritage

Domaine du Pégau was founded by Paul Féraud and his daughter Laurence, celebrated as standard-bearers of non-interventionist Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Specifically, Laurence created Cuvée da Capo in 1998, producing it only in extraordinary vintages with ancient foudre aging. Moreover, the wine is vinified with 100% whole bunches and native yeasts.

Today, Da Capo is universally recognized as one of the rarest and most legendary fine wines in the world. As a result, this 2007 magnum stands as an irreplaceable crown jewel for serious fine wine cellars.
