2012 Domaine Tempier Cabassaou: Structured Bandol Royalty Magnum
The 2012 Domaine Tempier Cabassaou Bandol Rouge 1.5L Magnum captures the regal power and velvety balance of a classic Provençal harvest. In particular, the old Mourvèdre vines of Cabassaou sit protected from coastal winds, allowing optimal phenolic ripening. In addition, the warm 2012 vintage produced supple tannins, rich dark fruit, and generous textural depth in this collector magnum format.
Tasting Notes for 2012 Domaine Tempier Cabassaou
The wine opens with expressive aromas of ripe black plum, cassis, dried lavender, leather, and wild thyme. Furthermore, secondary notes of cigar box, game, and crushed gravel unfold gracefully in the glass. On the palate, broad, muscular tannins frame a plush core of savory dark berry fruit. Consequently, the finish lingers with profound balance, warming Mediterranean spice, and limestone grip.

Estate History and Heritage
Domaine Tempier boasts a winemaking heritage dating back to the reign of Louis XV in the heart of Provence. Specifically, the modern fame of the domaine was forged by Lucien and Lulu Peyraud through decades of unyielding quality focus. Moreover, their single-vineyard bottlings proved that Bandol produces wines of aristocratic longevity.
Today, the Peyraud family preserves their artisanal traditions with chemical-free farming and native yeast fermentations. As a result, Cabassaou remains the most celebrated and scarce single-cru wine in the appellation.
