Description

2013 Domaine Tempier Cabassaou: Pure Mourvèdre Concentration Magnum

The 2013 Domaine Tempier Cabassaou Bandol Rouge 1.5L Magnum is an elite collector icon displaying the legendary endurance of Bandol. In particular, Cabassaou comes from an ancient, low-yielding parcel sheltered in a sun-drenched limestone amphitheater. In addition, the cool and late 2013 harvest produced fruit with remarkable structural tension, lively acidity, and deep savory drive in the magnum format.

Tasting Notes for 2013 Domaine Tempier Cabassaou

The wine opens with deep tertiary aromas of dark blackberry, leather, black olive tapenade, and dried garrigue herbs. Furthermore, nuanced layers of smoked meat, dark chocolate, and iron-rich minerality emerge with decanting. On the palate, powerful yet softened tannins coat the mouth with rich, savory black fruit. Consequently, the finish lingers with enduring warmth, stony cut, and noble rustic complexity.

Estate History and Heritage

Domaine Tempier is universally acknowledged as the spiritual standard-bearer and benchmark of Bandol. Specifically, Lucien Peyraud and his wife Lulu championed the official creation of the Bandol AOC in 1941. Moreover, Tempier led southern France in isolating individual vineyard terroirs to demonstrate their Grand Cru potential.

Today, the estate remains committed to biodynamic farming and traditional large oak foudre aging. As a result, this 2013 Cabassaou magnum offers serious collectors an authentic masterclass in mature Mourvèdre.
