2016 Château Pontet-Canet: Monumental Pauillac Biodynamic Mastery
The 2016 Château Pontet-Canet Pauillac Rouge 750ml stands as an all-time classic Left Bank Bordeaux from a legendary vintage. In particular, this historic fifth-growth estate neighbors Château Mouton Rothschild on Pauillac’s deep gravel plateau. In addition, the 2016 growing season is celebrated across Bordeaux for delivering monumental concentration, seamless tannins, and electric freshness.
Tasting Notes for 2016 Château Pontet-Canet
The wine opens with aristocratic aromas of crème de cassis, black cherry, crushed graphite, cigar box, and violets. Furthermore, complex hints of dark cocoa, damp gravel, and subtle incense emerge with decanting. On the palate, muscular, multi-layered tannins wrap around a deeply concentrated core of pure black fruit. Consequently, the finish lingers with extraordinary length, mineral drive, and commanding composure.

Estate History and Heritage
Château Pontet-Canet traces its roots back to 1705 under the visionary leadership of Jean-François de Pontet. Specifically, the estate entered a historic renaissance under the Tesseron family, who acquired the property in 1975. Moreover, Alfred Tesseron made Pontet-Canet the first major classified growth in Bordeaux to achieve full biodynamic certification.
Today, the estate farms using workhorses and ages wine partly in clay amphorae to preserve pure fruit expression. As a result, the 2016 vintage represents an unadulterated monument of modern Pauillac greatness.
