Released as the second expression in The Macallan Edition Series, Edition No. 2 explores the influence of oak, sherry seasoning, and creative cask selection. The whisky was assembled from seven different cask types sourced from four Spanish bodegas, combining both European and American oak.

Seven Cask Types from Four Spanish Bodegas

The Macallan Edition No. 2 was created using seven individual cask styles selected from four Spanish bodegas. Each collaborator selected casks designed to contribute a distinct element to the final whisky.

Bob Dalgarno – Tevasa

Bob Dalgarno selected first-fill European oak butts from Tevasa. These casks form an important foundation for Edition No. 2 and contribute rich dried-fruit and classic sherry-seasoned Macallan character.

Joan Roca – Diego Martin

Joan Roca selected first-fill European oak butts and second-fill American oak hogsheads from Diego Martin. These casks contribute green-wood character, toffee sweetness and additional complexity.

Josep Roca – Jose Miguel Martin

Josep Roca selected first-fill European oak puncheons and first-fill European oak hogsheads from Jose Miguel Martin. These casks emphasize ginger, allspice and warming aromatic spice.

Jordi Roca – Vasyma

Jordi Roca selected first-fill American oak butts and second-fill American oak puncheons from Vasyma. These American oak casks contribute citrus, lighter vanilla and additional sweetness.

Official Tasting Profile

Nose

Treacle and ginger lead into toffee apple and rich fruit. Vanilla develops next, followed by tropical fruit and a subtle touch of fresh green wood.

Palate

Warm and spicy with cracked black pepper and clove, followed by chocolate, brown sugar, oak and nuts. Liquorice and crisp caramelized biscuit notes add further depth.

A Collaboration with the Roca Brothers

The Macallan Edition No. 2 was created through a four-way collaboration between Bob Dalgarno and brothers Joan, Josep and Jordi Roca.

The Roca brothers are the team behind El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, Spain. Each collaborator approached cask selection from a different creative perspective, allowing the final whisky to combine multiple expressions of fruit, spice, oak, sweetness and aroma.
